    Project to strengthen the food and nutritional security of vulnerable households in the communes of Nasséré (Bam province), Banh and Sollé (Loroum province), North Central and Northern regions in Burkina Faso

    ECHO Soudure 2015 is an emergency project that aimed to improve the food and nutrition situation of vulnerable households and children from 6 to 23 months. He intervened in three communes including two in the province of Loroum and one in the province of Bam

    Areas of intervention of the project
    The main area of intervention is food and nutrition security


    Overall objective of the project
    Contribute to the improvement of the food and nutritional security of the populations affected by the disasters in the communes of Banh, Sollé and Nasséré

    Specific objectives of the project
    Specifically, the action aims to improve the food and nutritional situation of vulnerable households and children from 6 to 23 months and by strengthening the productive capacities of these households during the lean season.

    AREAS OF PROJECT INTERVENTION

    The main area of intervention is food and nutrition security

    TOTAL BUDGET

    The project budget in Burkina amounts to 300 000 € or 196 787 100 F CFA entirely financed by ECHO.

    PARTNERS OF THE PROGRAM

    The financial partner of the project is ECHO
    As for the operational partners, there are:

  • Food Security and Agricultural Productivity Improvement Projects in the Gnagna and Komondjari Provinces (SAPA / GK) Open or Close

    Food Security and Agricultural Productivity Improvement Projects in the Gnagna and Komondjari Provinces (SAPA / GK)

    Overall objective of the project significantly increase the agro-sylvo-pastoral productions of the most vulnerable populations of the provinces of Gnagna (communes of Mani, Coalla, Piéla, Liptougou, Thion, Bogandé, Bilanga) and Komandjari (communes of Gayéri, Foutouri, Bartiébougou) by appropriate techniques for improving water conservation and soil fertility

    Specific objective (s) of the project

    •     Improve the fertility of agro-silvo-pastoral systems
    •     Facilitate the supply of quality inputs
    •     Improve the marketing and management of cereal stocks
    •     Build the capacity of local actors

    AREAS OF PROJECT INTERVENTION

    Restoration of degraded lands (CES-DRS techniques) and the environment (reforestation)

    •         Facilitating access to quality agropastoral inputs
    •         Food security through the management of cereal stocks
    •         Training of local actors in planning and food security

    The overall budget of the SAPA-GK Project is: 777 113 024 FCFA or € 1,184,702

  • Sanitary Development Support Project, South West Open or Close

    Sanitary Development Support Project, South West

    Contribute to improving the health status of people in the Southwest region.

     

    Specific objective of the project

    •      Contribute to reducing the prevalence of malaria in children under 5 and pregnant women, Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), digestive parasitosis and diarrheal diseases in the region from 2009 to the end of December 2015;
    •  Strengthen screening and management of malnutrition among children aged 0-5 years in the region from 2009 to the end of December 2015;
    • Contribute to increasing the rate of tuberculosis screening in the region from 2009 to the end of December 2015;

    AREAS OF PROJECT INTERVENTION

    The project is active in the general area of health with a focus on community management of the following aspects:

    • Sexual and reproductive health
    •  Nutrition
    •  HIV / AIDS
    •  Malaria
    •  Tuberculosis

    TOTAL BUDGET

    The budget allocated to the project is annual. In 2015, it is estimated at 80 083 462 CFA francs distributed by source of financing as follows:
    • Common basket = 25,716,681 CFA francs; SR / World Bank = 37,340,074 CFA francs;
    • DBC = 16,351,706 CFA francs

    The project runs in the South-West region and concerns the 4 health districts that are Batié, Dano, Diébougou and Gaoua. The program at SOS SAHEL is based in Gaoua.

    Global objectives

    •      Facilitate the access of rural populations in the commune of Nasséré to sustainable and healthy sanitation systems to protect health and preserve the environment.
    •     Contribute to the initiatives taken by the government to achieve the Millennium Development Goals for access to drinking water and sanitation.

     Specific objectives of the programe

     

    To sustainably and equitably increase the access of poor and disadvantaged rural populations of Nasseré commune to sustainable and healthy sanitation systems.

     

    AREAS OF PROJECT INTERVENTION

    The project focuses on promoting sanitation and good hygiene practices.

    TOTAL BUDGET

    The total cost of the project is 135 689 € or 89 006 149 FCFA

    INTERVENTION ZONE

    The intervention area of the project is the rural commune of Nasséré consisting of 17 villages.
